What does my spouse have to do?

Both spouses must agree on the main terms. The process has two early steps before any fee:

  • The first short set of questions checks basic eligibility (including residency) and reminds you that your spouse must agree. Completing it does not start a case or create a charge.
  • If you continue, a second set of questions collects more details about you and your spouse. You are still not obligated. No divorce documents are being prepared yet.
  • When you finish the second set, you reach the paywall. The fee is due before document preparation begins.

After you pay, both spouses need to review and sign the documents. If you and your spouse reach a point where you cannot agree, the uncontested process will not work. There is a no-refund policy once the fee is paid.

Your spouse does not have to hire DoUsPart. Only one spouse is the client. The other spouse may hire their own attorney. Scheveck & Salminen represents only the client spouse, and only on a limited scope.
